1930 - 2014 - Bobby Ray Sosebee, 84, of Gastonia, went home to be with the Lord on December 10, 2014. He was a native of Chicopee, Georgia, born October 26, 1930 to the late Clarence "Pop" and Monteen Wilbanks Sosebee. He served in the 173rd AAA Gun Battalion as a Battery Clerk in Tomioka, Japan; he worked at Firestone, Parkdale Mills, Sherrill Industries and retired from Cookson after 15 years as the Maintenance Manager/Plant Engineer where he acquired the nickname" Light Bulb". Bobby was a long time member of the West Second Pentecostal Church, where he preached and taught Sunday school for numerous years, and was also a member of Yorkwood Church of God. He recently joined Riverwood Worship Center. He dearly loved God and his family and will be missed. Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Esther Barber Sosebee; sisters, Rachel Stuman and Jimmie Lou Hartgrove of Gastonia, and Becky Cash of High Point; son, Monty Sosebee and wife, Kathy of Gastonia; daughters; Mitzi Josey and husband, Mike of Hickory; Marsha Parnell and husband Leslie of Gastonia; five grandchildren: Shawn Josey and wife, Leigh, Heather Osborne and husband, Jamon, Angela Payne and husband, Mike, Monica Gibson and Husband, Robert, Allison Harvell and husband, Duane and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Sosebee. The family will receive friends 2 - 4 pm Sunday at Greene Funeral Service - South Chapel -1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia. A celebration of life service, officiated by the Rev. Danny Hoell will be held 11 am Monday at Riverwood Worship Center, 1425 Neal Hawkins Road, Gastonia. Interment will follow at Westview Gardens in Bessemer City. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to: Riverwood Worship Center, 1425 Neal Hawkins Road, Gastonia, NC 28054.
