Bobby "Bob" Owensby

Bobby "Bob" Owensby, 83, of Gastonia, passed away May 27, 2015, at Carolinas Medical Center. He was born, a native of Gaston County on November 12, 1931, the son of the late William Davis and Sarah Estelle Owensby. Bob was a US Army Veteran and retired from AB Carter. He was a member of American Legion - Absher-Flowers Post # 9337 in Gastonia. Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 61 years, Mary "Lib" Owensby; daughter, Teresa Owensby Rankin and husband, Mike; brothers, Bill Owensby and wife, Robin and Jerry Owensby and wife, Nettie; sister, Judy Owensby Laughlin; grandchildren, Ryan Rankin and Tyler Rankin and wife, Nicole. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ray Owensby and sisters, Marlene Jenkins and Elizabeth Conner. The family will receive friends 1 - 2 pm Saturday at Greene Funeral Service - South Chapel - 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 pm at Gaston Memorial Park, with the Rev. Scott Whitener, officiating. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
