Bobby Joe Green

Bobby Joe Green, 76, of Gastonia, passed away August 3, 2014 at Caromont Regional Medical Center. He was born a native of Gaston County on June 16, 1938, son of the late James and Lillian Green. Bobby was a veteran of the US Navy who served in Japan and Hong Kong, China. He was an avid sports fan of all sports. He is survived by his wife, Martha of 40 years; sons, David S. Willard of Hickory, Richard T. Green of Dallas; daughter, Alisa M. Davis and fiance' Jerry Hancock of Dallas, NC; brother, James Green and wife, Melvie of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Jimmie E. Edwards and wife, Kimberlee of Gastonia, Jacob H. Davis of Dallas, Robbie and Heather Green of Gastonia; great-grandchildren, Kinzlee and Jaxson Edwards, Gaven Akers, Jessie and Elijah Willard and Kinlee Green. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James R. Green and grandson, Tyler Green. A funeral service will be held 2 pm on Wednesday at Greene Funeral Service - South Chapel - 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by the Rev. Sam Barnette. Visitation will be held 6 - 8 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park. The family wishes to express a special thank you to the crew of Caromont Regional Medical Center 4th floor Intensive Care Unit.
