Billy Clay Spencer, 87, of Gastonia, passed away May 25, 2018 at Caromont Regional Medical Center.

He was born May 28, 1930 in Scottsville, KY, the son of the late Bernard Matella Spencer and Lucy Witcher Spencer.

Mr. Spencer was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church. He was a United States Army Veteran who was stationed in Germany and served during the Korean War. Mr. Spencer was a 1955 graduate of Lincoln Memorial University, Harrogate, Tennessee. He was a Mason, Scottish Rite, and a Shriner. He also retired from Wix Corporation as an Engineering Lap Supervisor. Mr. Spencer loved his Kentunky hometown and the Kentucky Wildcats, but even more, he loved his family.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of over 62 years, Faye C. Spencer; daughter, Debra S. Robinson and husband, Fred; grandchildren, Spencer Robinson and Lacey Robinson; brother, James Donald Spencer and wife, Carrie; numerous nieces and nephews; and step family, Jason, Kelly, and Kennedy Robinson, and Jamie Robinson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Boyer.

A memorial service will be held 12:00 pm on Tuesday at Greene Funeral Service – South Chapel 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, with Pastor Junior Morris officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
