Billy Harmon Davis Jr.

Billy Harmon Davis Jr, age 63, of South Gastonia passed away Monday, August 24, 2026. He was born March 20, 1963 in South Gastonia, where he remained a proud resident for the rest of his life.

He is preceded in death by his father Bill Davis Sr., and mother Brenda Barker Davis. He is also preceded by his beloved brother Brian Keith Davis.

Billy, as family and friends knew him, attended Hunter Huss High School. There he was a part of several historic football teams, before heading to play at East Carolina University on scholarship. After his college career ended Billy spent his summers lifeguarding in Myrtle Beach, a place he loved to visit for the remainder of his life with his family. Billy eventually returned to Gastonia, where he worked the rest of his life. He recently retired from Freightliner after nearly thirty years there.

Billy loved life, and was an avid sports fan. He loved Hunter Huss High School, where he and his three siblings attended. He also loved North Carolina sports, especially when he was able to watch them with family and friends. Billy brought joy to everyone around him, and made every room he was in brighter. Billy is best known as a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

He is survived by three children and one grandchild: His oldest son Weslee. His middle son Timothy and wife Ally, and their son Brooks. And his daughter, Sarah. He is also survived by his loving sister Belinda and her husband Ed, along with his brother Bobby and his wife Jackie. Billy is also survived by his many nieces and nephews, and countless friends, who could all relay to you his love for life.

Billy was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church, and instilled his strong Christian faith in his family. He passed alongside countless family and friends.

A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm, Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Flint Groves Baptist Church - 2017 E Ozark Ave, Gastonia, NC 28054. The family will receive friends from 2:00pm-3:00pm, at the church.
