Mr. Billy Andy "Bill" Wyatt went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, June 22, 2020. His former wife, Gail Wyatt, daughters, Valarie and Mechelle Wyatt, and granddaughter, Abigail Rose Wyatt, dearly loved him. Born November 24, 1945 in Waynesville, NC, Bill was the son of the late Sallie Gunter Wyatt and Andy Sanford Wyatt.
Bill was an American success story as he was a self-taught and self-made successful businessman in the auto-body repair business where he owned and operated "The Vette Shop" for over 40 years in Dallas, NC. He even built the shop itself, with his own two hands. He loved anything with wheels as a child and built model cars winning awards locally and statewide from as early as 8 years old and into his teen years. With hard work and dedication to his craft, he became well known for his talent throughout the US and he built many cars for clients "from the ground up" including racecars and classic Corvettes. His specialties were fiberglass and painting and he taught classes to aspiring car buffs at Cleveland Community College. He truly possessed both an analytical / scientific mind and an artistic mind. He was a hard worker and never missed a workday in his shop, including the day he had all his teeth pulled to get false teeth. He was one of the toughest people you will ever meet, shrugging off a number of serious accidents on his precious Harley Davidson motorcycle and slowing down for almost nothing.
Bill had a sense of humor that affected pretty much everyone in his path. He always had something silly to say assigning unforgettable nicknames that could lighten the worst situations. During the last 10 years of his life, he focused on his family and friends helping anyone that he could with his master mechanic skills. He could fix anything and was ready and willing to lend a hand to those in need. He painted houses, fixed cars, installed floors, roofs, plumbing, electrical issues, you name it. He even became a super nanny spending countless hours babysitting his beloved granddaughter Abigail, who brought our family together when she was born, June 22, 2010.
Bill was a Christian who read his Bible daily and tuned in to the Family Worship Center Church, Jimmy Swaggart Ministries in Baton Rouge, LA. He was well read and offered his Christian point of view on almost any topic.
In addition to his former wife, daughters and granddaughter, his four sisters and family members survive him including Lucille Wyatt McGee, Judy Wyatt Summey, Janet Wyatt Horne and husband Keith, Donna Wyatt Beaty and husband Jack, brother and sisters-in-law Larry and Penny Herman and Nancy Cooper. Numerous nieces, nephews and extended family also survive him. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by mother and father-in-law Eva and Warren Herman, brothers Jimmy and Randy Wyatt, sister Patsy Wyatt, brothers-in-law Paul McGee, Erskine Summey, Jr. and George Cooper, nephew Jeffrey Cooper and nieces Cindy McGee and Jennifer Wyatt.
A gathering of family and friends to honor him is planned for a future date. Details forthcoming.
