Billie Faye Holbrooks, age 94, of Gastonia, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by the love of her family.
A cherished native of Gaston County, Billie was born on August 24, 1930, the beloved daughter of the late Claude Ray Aldridge and Ina Pearl Renau Aldridge. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Thomas Lucious Holbrooks; her sons, Randy Dean Holbrooks and Mark Steven Holbrooks; and her sisters, Imagene Hodges and Maxine Hill.
An amazing woman who's family was blessed to have as their Queen, Billie Faye was a caring and compassionate woman who made family her first priority. Her husband lovingly and jokingly referred to as "his cook"; to her children she was "Mama", and to her grandchildren she was "Grandma Billie".
She enjoyed going to eat at Golden Corral, and loved shopping, particularly window shopping because she rarely bought anything.
The best way to describe Billie Faye is to say that she had a servant's heart.
She could work circles around most people and loved keeping her house clean and yard picked up. She loved to cook for everybody and always looked forward to visits.
Her family will always remember her for her favorite line, "I reckon."
She is remembered by her grandchildren for making pallets in the floor for overnight stays; and when it was time to leave, she would be standing at the door until everyone was out of the driveway.
There is no doubt that when Billie Faye's family goes to their forever home she will be there waiting to welcome them where they will never have to say goodbye again.
Billie Faye's legacy of love and devotion lives on through her children: Thomas Holbrooks Jr. (Teresa), Gary Holbrooks (Sarah), David Holbrooks, and Susan Holbrooks Howard. She was a proud and loving grandmother to twelve grandchildren: Thomas Holbrooks III, Scott Holbrooks (Angel), Angie Holbrooks, Jason Holbrooks (Kelly), Matthew Holbrooks (Megan), Kevin Holbrooks (Katie), Nikki Casey, Lacey Moses (Ben), Lauren Girley (Eric), Cody McGill, Josh Holbrooks (Jennifer), and Molly Grant (Travis). Her family continued to grow with thirty-two great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy.
Billie will be remembered for her unwavering faith, deep commitment to her family, and the warmth she shared with all who knew her.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Billie's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at Love Memorial Baptist Church, 311 E. Walnut St., Gastonia. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service, beginning at 12:00 noon.
Following the funeral service, Billie will be buried in Hollywood Cemetery.
Billie Faye's memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
