Billie "Sonny" Gene Ghent

Billie "Sonny" Gene Ghent, 78, of Gastonia, passed away September 30, 2015 at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas. He was born July 3, 1937 in Lancaster County, SC, the son of the late William and Bessie Ghent. Billie was a United States Army Veteran. He was a member of South Side Baptist Church of Gastonia. Billie retired from the former Talon Company after 22 years of service. Left to cherish his memories are his daughter Cheryl Ghent Kayler and husband Eddie; grandson Austin Cox; brothers Cecil, Donald and Jimmy Ghent; sisters, Ruth Norris and Linda Sims; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and special friend Minnie Lovette. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters Ted Faulkenberry and Dorothy Brazell. A funeral service will be held 3 pm Saturday at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by the Rev. Ralph Painter. The family will receive friends 7 - 9 pm Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Gaston Memorial Park. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
