Betty Mcateer

Betty Mae Bolding McAteer, 82, of Gastonia, passed away July 26, 2016 at her residence.

She was born May 1, 1934, in Pickens County, SC, the daughter of the late Clifford C. Bolding and Odis Geneva Haynes Bolding.

Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.  She was a member of East Gastonia Church of God where she served the Lord faithfully.  She was a faithful Christian.  She did without so others could have.  She was a blessing to all.

Left to cherish her memories are her sons Jerry Lee McAteer, Jr., James Glenn McAteer Sr. and wife Kathy, John McAteer and wife Sheila; daughters Peggy Ann McAteer, Mary Geneva Brown and husband Jeff, Barbara Jean Ju and husband Richard; 3 brothers; 8 sisters; 1 granddaughter; 9 grandsons; 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Lee McAteer, Sr., 1 brother and 1 sister.

A funeral service was held Friday, July 29, 2016 at East Gastonia Church of God, 1407 Cedar Avenue, Gastonia, officiated by Brother Glen Mecum.

The family received friends 6 – 8 pm Thursday at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.

Interment was at Gaston Memorial Park.
