Betty Sue Manning Peterson Carpenter Morton

Betty Sue Manning Peterson Carpenter Morton, 76, passed away Friday, August 25, 2023, at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC.

She was born May 24, 1947, in Charlotte, NC to the late Essie Manning Peterson.

Betty was saved and baptized in 1959 to the Missionary Baptist faith. She attended Gaffney Senior High School but graduated from Gaston College in 1997 at the age of 50.

In addition to her mother, Betty was preceded in death by her husbands, Kenneth Carpenter, James Morton; son, Jimmy Douglas Carpenter; brothers, Damon Peterson, Carl Peterson, Glenn Peterson Jr., Bobby Peterson; twin sister, Nettie Sue Peterson Manning Adair.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Veronica Betty Morton Hafford; brother, Buddy Peterson; grandchildren, Brandon Ballard, Jessie Austin Howell, Darian Lloyd, Ashley Kasey; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Nollie Ann Clemmer; brother-in-law, Arnold Eugene Morton; many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews; furry four-legged babies, Casey and Cry Baby.

A funeral service officiated by Pastor Buddy Miles, will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2023, 1:00 PM at New Life & Hope Church, 737 Cherokee Falls Rd. Blacksburg, SC. 29702, burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S. York Road, Gastonia, NC 28052 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
