Betty Barnes Leagon

Betty Barnes Leagon, 85, of Dallas, passed away Friday, October 30, 2015, at Caromont Regional Medical Center. She was born May 30, 1930, in Gaston County, daughter if the late Walter Richard Barnes and Mary Elizabeth Auten Barnes. Betty was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and Faith Fellowship Club. She was a loving spouse of Eugene D. Leagon for 52 years. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her spouse, and siblings, Ann Barnes Kirksey, Ella Barnes Forbis, David Barnes, Walter W. Barnes, Leona Barnes Marr, Harrison R. Baress, Margaret Barnes Friday, Frances Barnes Wilson, and R. Richard Barnes. Left to cherish her memories are her sons, Eugene D. Leagon, Jr. and wife Martha, James D. Leagon and wife Donna, William T. Leagon and wife Kim. Daughter, Sherry Zimmerman and husband Charlie; sisters, Wanda Barnes Fox and husband Dennis, Jane Barnes Watts and husband Jack; grandchildren, Natasha Burke and husband Brandon, Bradley Wright, Michael Leagon, Whitney Wright, Heather Leagon Martin and husband Tony, Heath Leagon, Caleb Leagon, Jon Dunn and wife Krista, Chris Dunn; and great grandchildren, Savannah Burke, Hunter Burke, Teagan Dunn, and Finley Dunn. A funeral service will be held 2pm on Tuesday, at Faith United Methodist Church, 1511 East Ozark Avenue Gastonia. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held at Gaston Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Faith United Methodist Church, 1511 East Ozark Avenue, Gastonia, NC 28052.
