Betty Messick Horne

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Betty Messick Horne, of Kings Mountain, who departed this life on July 6, 2025, at the age of 63. A cherished member of her family and community, Betty touched the hearts of many with her kindness, warmth, and unwavering spirit.

Betty was born on May 18, 1962, in Gaston County. She found profound joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially in the company of her beloved family. Betty had a passion for bowling, often gathering with friends and family to enjoy the camaraderie and friendly competition. She believed that every moment spent with loved ones was a memory to treasure, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and joy.

The family will receive friends 6-7 pm Monday,July 14, 2025, at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Road Gastonia. A celebration of Betty's life will follow at 7:00 pm, officiated by Pastor Ronnie Dale and Pastor Ryan McCluney.

As we gather to pay tribute to Betty's life, we will remember her infectious laughter and the love she so freely gave to those around her. She will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Betty is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Gene Horne; beloved daughter, Misty Messick; grandchildren, Justin Messick and Chelsie Gann; great-grandchildren, Brylee Greene, Shyla Messick, Adien Messick, Kamryn Willis; her beloved fur baby Sassy.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, James Franklin Messick and Rennie Sahms Messick; brothers, Buck Little, Johnny Messick and Lewis Messick Sr.; sisters, Martha Messick and Dovie Messick.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Betty's name, allowing her legacy of love and kindness to continue.
