Betty Garvin

Betty Garvin, a beloved professor and devoted member of the Bessemer City community, passed away on June 16, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on March 27, 1954, in North Carolina, Betty left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.

After earning her associate's degree from Gaston College, she pursued her passion for healthcare and education, obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree from Appalachian State University and later a Master of Health Administration from Strayer University. For 25 remarkable years, she dedicated herself to teaching at Gaston College, where she inspired countless students with her knowledge, compassion, and unwavering support.

Betty was known not only for her professional accomplishments but also for her warmth and kindness. She was a pillar of her community and a mentor to many. Her passion for helping others extended beyond the classroom, leaving a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew her.

Following her wishes, no services will be held and her cremains will be scattered.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Rev. Robert L. Bell and Mary Williams Bell.
