Betty Cook Duffie

Gastonia, NC Betty Cook Duffie, 77, passed away October 1, 2013, surrounded by her family, at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia. She was born April 7, 1936 in Cowpens, SC, daughter of the late Joe Cook Jr. and Laura Elizabeth Phillips Cook. Betty was a loving mother and grandmother, who will be missed by many. A funeral service will be held 11 am on Friday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by Rev. Roger Overton. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm on Thursday at the funeral home. The interment will be held at Westview Gardens, Bessemer City, following the service. She is survived by: her daughter, Debra Childress of Gastonia; brother, James Cook; sister, Sarah Hill; grandchildren, Tyler and Alyson Childress; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by: her husband, Frank Duffie; sisters, Catherine Adair, Frances Vermulen Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
