Betty Louise Grindstaff Bates Drennan

Mrs. Betty Louise Drennan, 93, of Gastonia entered her heavenly home on Sunday, October 27, 2024. She was surrounded by her loving family at the home of Joe and Regina Bates. She was born in Gastonia, NC, on July 15, 1931, to the late Robert Lee Grindstaff and Daisy McClellan Grindstaff.

Mrs. Drennan was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and loved her church family dearly. She was retired from the textile industry. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, and a wonderful friend to many.

Anyone who knew her knew that she loved her family, her Fridays at the beauty shop and her long grocery store trips afterwards. She loved watching her flowers grow and was a top-notch decorator for every holiday which included lots of candles.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Clarence Bates; husband, James Drennan; brothers, Garland Grindstaff, and J.H. Grindstaff; also her sisters, Callie Kelso, and Daisy Beam; and her loving daughter, Connie Renae Bingham.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Joe Bates and wife Regina; sister, Sue Grindstaff; brother, Benny Grindstaff and wife Jane; two grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; son-in-law, Dan Bingham; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service officiated by Rev. Ken Faulkenberry will be held 2:00pm, Thursday, October 31, 2024, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service - 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to, Bethel Baptist Church - 3412 Redbud Dr., Gastonia, NC 28056.
