It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bertha Mae Hudson Meeks, who left us on October 1, 2026, at the age of 74. Bertha, born on September 2, 1952, in Lancaster County, SC, daughter of the late Addie Mae Gibson and was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, cherished for her warmth, compassion, and joyful spirit.

An attendee of Second Baptist Church in Cherryville, Bertha found great strength and solace in her faith and community. Her unwavering optimism shone brightly in everything she did, especially during her cherished moments with family. She was a passionate enthusiast of bingo, often finding joy in the company of friends and family. Bertha also enjoyed peaceful days spent fishing at her favorite spots and embraced her creative side through crafting, where she poured her heart into making beautiful gifts for her loved ones. Many joyful memories were made as she spent time at the beach, basking in the sun and laughter with those she held dear.

Bertha dedicated many years of her working life at The Old Myers Mill, where her hard work and commitment left an indelible mark. After retiring, she continued to inspire those around her with her vibrant spirit and kind nature.

In honoring Bertha's beautiful life, a memorial service will be held on 1:00 pm Monday, October 12, 2026, at Second Baptist Church 201 North Houser Street Cherryville. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall after the service.
