Berdie Gregg Jacques, 77, of Gastonia, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, July 21, 2017, at her home.

She was born June 10, 1940, in Newport, Tenn., daughter of the late James Andrew Gregg and Mary Ellen Hayes Gregg.

Berdie was a member of First Assembly of God in Gastonia for over 30 years. She loved her church family. She was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Airforce. Berdie loved her family and grandchildren and loved cooking and decorating for Christmas.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life for 48 years, Charles Richard Jacques; sister, Barbara Black; and brother, James Gregg.

Left to cherish her memories are her sons, Chuck Jacques, Marc Jacques and wife, Cherri; daughter, Jacquie Jacques Alexander and husband, Steve; brother, Gary Gregg; sisters, Betty Kyker, Jean Bereece, Caroline Farmer; grandchildren, Josh Alexander and wife, Heather, Paris Alexander White and husband, Ryan, Jake Alexander and Chelsee Hearn, Lucas Jacques, Andrew Jacques, Matthew Jacques; and great-grandchildren, Finn Alexander and Macy White.

A funeral service, officiated by Pastors Dennis Boyce and Lamar Creel, will be held 11 am on Wednesday at First Assembly of God, Gastonia.

The family will receive friends 6-8 pm on Tuesday at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 South York Rd., Gastonia.

Interment will be held at Westview Gardens Cemetery, Bessemer City with full military honors from the Gaston County Honor Guard.

Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
