Rev. Ben Allen Summitt, 76, of Gastonia went to be with the Lord on August 11, 2017.
A Gaston county native, he was born July 28, 1941, son of the late Mack Lindsey Summitt and Isabelle Phillips Summitt.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Rev. Summitt was a member of Lowell Church of God and sang in the choir.
He was a retired Bishop who spent over 40 years in the ministry pastoring and evangelizing.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 58 years, Patsy Arrowood Summitt; children, Kim Freeman and husband John, Jeff Summitt and wife Peggy, Amy Summitt, and Jill Fields; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Bill Summitt; and sister, Barbara Allison.
A funeral service, officiated by the Revs. Charles Curtis, Billy Ray Honeycutt, John Freeman, and Roger Wentz, will be held 7 pm Tuesday, August 15 at Lowell Church of God, 804 W 1st St, Lowell.
The family will receive friends at the church from 5pm until 7pm, prior to the service.
A graveside service will be held 11 am Wednesday at Westview Gardens in Bessemer City.
Arrangements are with South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
