Ben Gordon Arrowood

Ben Gordon "BG" Arrowood, 94, passed away on July 6, 2024, at his residence in Ranlo, NC.

He was born July 19, 1929, in Rutherford County, NC, to the late Ben Joseph and Ollie Head Arrowood.

Ben was a US Army veteran, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the United Veterans of America.

He was a lifetime member of Ranlo Baptist Church where he was involved in many activities, until his passing. Ben and his wife, Catherine "Aunt Rine" were the first couple married at the previous sanctuary on December 24, 1950.

Ben was employed by Burlington Industries for 45 years.

He loved his family and especially his children and grandchildren. He was loved by his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Ben was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Catherine; brothers, Willard and Richard Arrowood; and sisters, Ivy Arrowood, Ila Paxton, and Bonnie Dockery.

Ben is survived by his daughter, Deborah Couick and husband Larry; sons, Ben Arrowood Jr. and his wife Lois "Sissy", and Michael Arrowood; grandchildren, Kevin Couick and wife Brandi, Mark Couick and wife Kristyn, Jason Adams and wife Sara, Michael Arrowood Jr., and Julia Arrowood; and great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Lilly, Ethan, Rebekah, Paige, Rhyen, and Benjamin; a brother, Henry Arrowood; and sisters-in-law, Sally Wooten and Nell Lovingood.

A service to celebrate Ben's life will be held Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Ranlo Baptist Church, 1517 Spencer Mountain Road, Gastonia, NC, officiated by Pastor James Land.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service (1:00-2:00 pm).

Interment, with military honors, will follow the service at Gaston Memorial Park (Old Side).
