Barbara Lucas Vinsant

Barbara Lucas Vinsant, 91, of Gastonia, NC, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Gaston Health and Rehab.

She was born October 12, 1931, in Gaston County to the late John and Beulah Brindle.

Barbara was a member of Yorkwood Church of God, where she played the organ. She taught water aerobics for seniors at the YMCA in Gastonia. Barbara loved her family and her church family. She supported South Dakota Missions, Shriners, St. Jude, and Wounded Warriors.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Lucas; second husband, Zeke Vinsant; son, James Kenneth "Jimbo" Lucas; daughter, Jeanie Lucas; brother, James Brindle.

Barbara is survived by her son, John William "John Boy" Lucas (Christy); daughters, Jackie Lucas, Jeanette Lucas Mercer (Wayne); six grandchildren, David Mercer, Andy Mercer, Hank Swayney, Colt Lucas, Chase Messick, Wendy Lucas; ten great-grandchildren, Drew Mercer, Ava Mercer, Lola Jean Mercer, Savannah Mercer, Dakota Mercer, Brittany Swayney, Jamie Swayney, Wyatt Messick, Walker Messick, Willow Messick; a number of great great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Service officiated by Pastors Chris Kennedy and Troy Beaver, will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2023, 11:00 AM at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S. York Rd. Gastonia, NC. Burial will follow at Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
