Barbara Hawkins Sparks

Barbara Hawkins Sparks, 65, of Shelby, passed away February 14, 2016 at her residence.

She was born October 6, 1950, a native of Gaston County, the daughter of Ervin Leroy Hawkins and the late Myrtle Smith Hawkins.

Left to cherish her memories along with her father are her loving husband of over 44 years, Robert Sparks; sons Chris Sparks and wife Sherry, Roger Sparks and wife Grace and Jimmy Sparks; daughters Elizabeth Carpenter and husband Kenny, Loretta Evans and husband John, Amanda Beaver and husband John and Dolly Hawkins; brothers Bud and Ricky Hawkins; sister Debbie George; 19 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 2 pm Friday at Greene Funeral Service – South Chapel – 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by Rev. Jerry Millwood.

The family will receive friends 6 – 8 pm Thursday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Gaston Memorial Park.

Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
