Barbara Ledford Smith

Barbara Ledford Smith, 88, of Grover, NC, passed away November 23, 2024, at her daughter's residence.

She was born in Gaston County, NC, on October 21, 1936, to the late Elzie B. and Audrey Jones Ledford.

Barbara was a member of Mt. Paran Baptist Church in Blacksburg, SC.  She worked as a teacher's assistant in the Gaston County school system.  She Loved her family dearly and loved spending time together. She Loved gardening and being outdoors. She was a woman strong in her faith and worried about her family more than herself.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Ray Smith; brothers, Carl Eugene Ledford and Daniel David Ledford; and grandchild, Jamie Smith.

Barbara is survived by her son, Donald E. Smith (Cheryl); daughter, Wanda Smith Walker; and grandchildren, Chad Moore (Christy), Justin Moore (Brandi), Brandy Smith, and John Williford; 15 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

A service to celebrate Barbara's life will be held Friday, November 29, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 216 Archie Whitesides Road, Gastonia, NC 28052.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Interment will follow the service at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia, NC.
