Barbara Chitwood Lewallen

Barbara Chitwood Lewallen, 72 of Gastonia, passed away January 13, 2015 at Caromont Regional Medical Center. She was born December 7, 1942 a native of Gaston County the daughter of the late Luke and Leo Chitwood. Barbara loved her family and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her sons, Jim Lewallen, Jr. and John Lewallen; daughters, Debbie Kirchner and Penny Bradley; brother, Billy Chitwood; sisters, Betty Froneberger and Marion Barkley; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and fiancé Steve Wood. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Lewallen, Sr.; brothers, Luke Chitwood II and Ben Chitwood; sisters, Margie Robinson and Dorothy Bradshaw. A memorial service will be held 6 pm Friday at Greene Funeral Service - 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia. Visitation will follow the service at the funeral home. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
