Barbara Jean Franklin

Barbara Jean Franklin, who always had a song in her heart and a paintbrush in her hand, peacefully passed away on November 17, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on April 8, 1944, in Gaston County, NC, Barbara was a beloved wife, sister, and teacher assistant who touched the lives of many.

Barbara, a talented artist and singer, found joy in creating beautiful artwork and singing her heart out to her favorite song "Holy Ground." Her passion for wedding planning brought countless couples joy as she lovingly crafted their special day. She pursued her education at the Art Institute of Charlotte, where she honed her creative skills and shared her talents with the world. She was a member of Sunset Lane Baptist church for many years, where she loved the Lord with all her heart and loved to share His story with others.

Barbara is survived by her devoted husband, of 40 years, Terrell Franklin; sister, Marsha Morrow (Carl); brother, Gerald Lynn Featherstone (Brenda); nephews, Lance Wright (Amanda), Jesse Wright, Chandler Painter (Chloe), Zachary Dills (Brittney), Johnny Franklin (Michelle), Michael Franklin (Bridget), Johnny Neal (Samantha), Shane Neal (Leita), Tript Morrow (Lori); sister in law, Jane Franklin, who stood by her side through all of life's ups and downs. Her love for her family knew no bounds, and she treasured every moment spent with her loved ones.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, PL Featherstone and Lucille Smith Featherstone; first husband, David Self; sister, Nancy Featherstone Rogers; brother in laws, Johnny Charles Franklin and Donald Franklin; nephew, Derek Morrow.

A celebration of Barbara's life, officiated by Pastor Dick Hannah, will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 12:00 pm at Sunset Lane Baptist Church, 1001 N 12th St, Bessemer City, NC 28016, with a visitation preceding at 11:00 am. In accordance with her wishes, Barbara will be cremated.

Barbara will be remembered for her creativity, kind heart, and unwavering love for those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of art, music, and cherished memories that will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace.
