Barbara "Mama Chris" Abbott

Barbara "Mama Chris" Christine Abbott, 85, of Bessemer City, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2022, at The Ivy in Gastonia.

A Gaston County native, she was born June 17, 1937, daughter of the late William and Edna Moss.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Bobby William Lymon.

Barbara was a member of Robinson Memorial Presbyterian Church in Gastonia.

She worked at Belmont Hosiery for many years until she went to work with her family at Ray's Smokehouse, where she was known as "Mama Chris".

Mama Chris loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 33 years, Ted Abbott; daughters, Rhonda England (Butch) and Renee Carmin (Doug); grandchildren, Shannon, Casey and wife Alexis, Amber and Courtney, Travis and wife Jennifer England, Lauren and husband Rick Neilson; great-grandchildren, Easton, Owen, Heidi, Kinley, Ashlyn, and Brogan.

A memorial service will be held at Robinson Memorial Presbyterian Church at a later date.
