Avis Davis Welch Harris

Cowpens, SC Avis Davis Welch Harris "Meme", went home to be with the Lord on June 10, 2013 at her home. Born September 6, 1937 in Tunnelton, WV. She was a daughter of the late Charles E. Davis and Louise Franks Davis, and the daughter in-law of the late Theodore R. Welch and Pearl Ingle Welch. She was preceded in death by the father of her children, Norman Welch. Avis was formerly employed with the Magnolia Group and was a career nurse for 44 years. She was a member of the Baptist Faith. She served our country in the US Army. Avis devoted her life to her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the many friends she made over the years. Avis is survived by: her daughter, Allison W. Martin and her husband, Terry of Cowpens, SC; son, Bryan Welch and his wife Shelia of Gastonia; five grandchildren, Courtni Holloman, Terri Leigh Martin and her husband, Jason Zdyb, Curtis Martin and his wife, Christina, Victoria Lowder and her husband Scott, Bryn Welch and his wife, Brittney; five great-grandchildren, Gabriela, Madison, Noah, Madalynn and Lillian; one brother, Robert Davis; one sister, Francis Stafford. Visitation will be held 12:00 - 1:30 pm on Thursday at Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia. A graveside and interment service will be held 2 pm on Thursday at Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Gastonia, officiated by Rev. Leon Humphrey.
