Austin James Lyle, 26, passed away August 31, 2020 at home.

Austin was born December 3, 1993 to Laura and James Lyle in Houlton, Maine, then later moved to Gastonia, NC in 1997.

Austin was a lover of all things music. He started with the drums and guitar in middle school, but would master just about any instrument that he picked up. Playing his guitar was one of his favorite things to do. He would entertain his family and friends for hours with his soulful voice. Austin was known as a giant teddy bear. He had a huge heart, especially for those in need. Austin was a friend of many special people- he truly valued his friendships.

Austin is survived by his dad, James Edward Lyle; his mom, Laura Lyle and Vincent Summers; sister, Jessica and husband Aaron Allison; sister, Brianna and husband Jesse Sylar; special niece, aka his "little sister", Izzy; step brother and sisters, Destinee and Caleb Summers and Kailee Bullard; grandmother, Shirley Lyle; nephew, Barrett Sylar; nieces, Lily and Abby Allison; as well as his 3 aunts; several cousins; and many friends.

Austin was preceded in death by his "Grampy", Edward P Lyle; "Nana", Linda McEachern; as well as several uncles.

A celebration of life is taking place at Lineberger Park, September 4, 2020 at 7 pm.
