Audrey "Jean" Smith

Audrey "Jean" Smith, 73, of Gastonia, went home to be with the Lord September 11, 2015 at her residence. She was born March 2, 1942 in Fairfield County, the daughter of the late James and Evelyn Smith and step-mother Edna Estelle Milling Smith. Mrs. Smith was a loving mother to her children and had a strong faith in the Lord. Left to cherish her memories are her children, Eugene Bartlet, James Darryl Welch, Jeffrey Lee Welch, Teresa Ann Price, Sandy Smith Johnson; sisters, Diane Shoupe and Pat Avery; brothers, Marvin Boyd Smith and Tommy Smith; grandchildren, Daniel Johnson, Tracy Johnson, James Avery Price, James Steven Price Jr. and Emily Price; six great-granddaughters and lifelong friend Frankie Pope. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Al, James "Jim", Clyde and J.C. Smith; sisters, Margie Sanders, Mary Taylor and Francis Morris; grandson, Timothy Johnson and great-grandson, Gabriel Price. A graveside service officiated by Pastor Ronnie Simmons will be held 3pm Friday at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1:30 - 2:30 pm Friday at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service - 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
