It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Arthur Dwayne Hensley, who left us on July 17, 2026, at the age of 51. Born on June 19, 1975, in Cecil County, Maryland, Dwayne spent much of his life bringing joy to those around him. He called Kings Mountain, North Carolina, his home and cherished the community he became a part of.
Dwayne was a devoted husband to his wife, Teresa Hensley, and a loving father to his son Brandon Hensley, and wife Novella. He is also survived by his sister, Ada Hensley; brothers, Michael Hensley, and wife Crystal, and Frankie Hensley, and his wife Donna; several nieces and nephews. He had a warm presence that lit up the lives of everyone who knew him. With a high school diploma in hand, he forged a successful career as a sales representative in the industrial distributors industry, but his true passions extended far beyond work.
Dwayne was a beloved member of The Rock Church Family in Bessemer City, where he shared his musical talents, playing many instruments, and gracing us with his singing and songwriting. His involvement in the Children's Church ministry showcased his dedication to nurturing the next generation with love and kindness. Dwayne's infectious spirit was felt by all his church family and he had a remarkable ability to uplift others through his music and genuine compassion.
He adored his time spent vacationing in the mountains, dreaming of the peace and tranquility found in a cozy log cabin surrounded by nature. Those moments were more than just a getaway for him; they were a reflection of his love for life and the beauty of the world around him.
Dwayne's life will be celebrated with a special celebration of life at The Rock Church 4432 Kings Mtn Hwy, Bessemer City, on Sunday, July 26, at 6:00 pm. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The family invites everyone who knew him to come together and pay tribute to a truly wonderful man.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Dwayne's name to The Rock Church , which was very close to his heart, so that we can continue to spread the love and joy he so generously gave during his time with us.
Rest easy, Dwayne. You will be greatly missed.
Dwayne was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Carol Hensley.
