Arthur Franklin, 77, of Gastonia, passed away on January 22, 2018, at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia.
He was born April 6, 1940, in Jackson County, NC, son of the late Jesse Franklin and Myrtle Jones Franklin.
Mr. Franklin was a member of Chapel Grove Baptist Church in Gastonia.
He loved to paint and draw. Arthur was an artist who enjoyed sewing and building model and race cars. Arthur loved the Redskins and the Carolina Panthers. He also enjoyed Nascar.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Friday, January 26, 2018, at Chapel Grove Baptist Church, 716 Camp Rotary Road, Gastonia, officiated by the Rev. Roger Overton.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Franklin is survived by his loving wife of almost 57 years, Lyna Pangle Franklin; sons, Richard Franklin and wife Catherine, Robert "Bob" Franklin; daughters, Suzanne Franklin and Katherine, Sandy Scruggs and husband Michael, Cindy Franklin and husband, Brian; grandchildren, Jessica Franklin, Cameron Franklin, Julie Thompson, Brandon Ware; siblings, Martha, Jesse, Dewey, Wanda, Phillip, Alice.
