Arden R. Gaddis

Gastonia, NC Arden R. Gaddis, 82, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at his residence. He was born October 1, 1929 in Murphy, NC, son of the late Carl and Azlee Dockery Gaddis. Mr. Gaddis was owner and manager of Gaddis Upholstery Shop for over 40 years. Arden was a member of Temple Baptist Church, Gastonia. He was a proficient horseman, trainer and enjoyed riding for pleasure. A funeral service will be held 2 pm on Friday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by Rev. Gregory S. Ballard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia. He is survived by: his wife of 63 years, Nell Jones Gaddis; son, Rick Gaddis and his wife, Glenda; brother in-law, Frank Jones; brothers, Frank Gaddis, Wayne Gaddis and wife, Mattie, Andrew Gaddis, Ed Gaddis, Clinton Gaddis and wife, Sonya; sisters, Ruby Stiles and husband, Parks, Grace Lee and husband, Fred, Susie Crumbley; grandchildren, Nicole Lineberger and husband, Eric, Michelle Cochcroft, Alan Chadwick Gaddis; great grandchildren, Matthew Thomas Reyes, Lily Arden Cochcroft, Eli Brennon Lineberger. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: brother, Walter D. Gaddis; sister, Thelma Forrester.
