Annie Mae Boyd Roach, 87, of Gastonia, passed away peacefully with her family by her side November 9, 2016 at Mercy Hospital of Charlotte.
She was born October 5, 1929, a native of Gaston County, the daughter of the late Oscar and Susie Boyd.
Annie was a member of Crowder's Creek ARP and the Home Extension Club of Gaston County. She was active with the Women Ministries at church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and crafts. She was a great home innovator, church youth leader, and Girl Scout leader. She graduated from Gastonia High School.
Left to cherish her memories are her sons Douglas Roach and wife Nancy, Steven Roach and wife Janice; daughters Peggy Grigg and husband Bob, Carolyn Champion and husband Chris, Marilyn Brooks and husband David, Greta Berry and husband Bill; 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Henry Lee Roach, Jr. and siblings Martha Hawkins, William Boyd, Phyllis Huffstetler and an infant sibling.
The family would like to give special thanks to all the caregivers who took care of her this last year.
A funeral service officiated by Pastor Stuart Fowler will be held 11 am Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Crowders Creek ARP, 207 Crowders Creek Church Rd., Gastonia.
The family will receive friends 9:30 – 10:45 am prior to the service at the church.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
