Annie "Gwen" Ellington

Annie "Gwen" Ellington, 86, of Bessemer City, NC, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2021 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia.

She was born July 30, 1934 in Gaston Co, NC, daughter of the late Dewey Helton and Venise Lowe Helton.

Gwen was a member of South Gastonia Church of God. She loved to cook and sew.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William "Duke" T. Ellington; son, Randy Allen Rials; brothers, Garland, Harold, Frank, John, Donald and Ronald Helton; and sister, Jean Enloe.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy Norris (Marshall); sister, Patricia Brown; grandchild, Michelle Gilliam (Galvin); and great-grandchildren, Randy Patterson, Holly Patterson and Alexis Rials.

A graveside service officiated by Pastor Bobby Gilley will be held 2pm Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Hollywood Cemetery, Gastonia.

Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
