Anne Marie Canipe

November 18, 1938 — October 4, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Anne Marie Canipe, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, and cherished member of our community. Anne was born on November 18, 1938, in France and made her home in Stanley, North Carolina. She passed away on October 4, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth.

Anne was known for her friendly smile and remarkable ability to brighten the day of anyone who crossed her path. A true lover of shopping, she could often be found exploring the aisles of Hamrick's, where she enjoyed picking out the perfect items for her loved ones. Anne had a passion for cooking, and her home was always filled with the delightful aroma of her latest culinary creations. She worked for Joe and Jim's from 1963-1973, then Robert's from 1973-1983, then Marc's on December 10, 1991, then Brendles from March 19, 1983-November 18, 1991, then Wolf Camera from November 18, 1991-July 2001, and then ABC Store on June 26, 2002 where she retired on December 31, 2014.

An avid reader, she found joy in the pages of her favorite books, often sharing stories and insights with her family and friends. Above all, her greatest love was for her family: son, Terry Canipe (Jeanie Watts); daughter-in-law, Sylvia Canipe; grandchildren, Jason Canipe (Melinda), Tiffney Murphy (Gene), Lauren McAlister, Seth Canipe, Darrin Smith; great grandchildren, Davin Canipe (Emma), Caroline Murphy, Remi Canipe, Grace Pearson, Aiden Pearson, Sophia Pearson, Hudson McAlister, all who she cherished deeply.

Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett C. Canipe; parents, Martin and Marie Jeanne Clouzy; grandson, Christopher Canipe; step children, Robert Terry Canipe, Billy Joe Canipe, and Sandra Kay Canipe.

Anne's journey will be honored in a private service, allowing family and friends to celebrate her life in a personal and meaningful way. Cremation will take place, and her ashes will be memorialized at a later date.

Though she may no longer be with us, Anne's spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be missed dearly.
