Ann Jewell Brooks

Ann Jewell Brooks passed away February 23, 2023, in Venice, FL.  Ann was a resident of Gastonia for over 60 years.

Ann was born in Liberty, SC.  She moved to Gastonia in 1946 after her marriage and made her home here until 2008.  She was a member of West Franklin Baptist Church in Gastonia and attended Colonial Baptist Church in Venice, Florida.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Betty Brooks Grant (Ron) of Venice, FL, granddaughter, Leslie Larkins (Jim) of Woodstock, GA.  Three great grandchildren (Reagan, James, and McKinley) will carry on her legacy.

Ann is proceeded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Thurston Hoover Brooks; grandson, Brandon Brooks Grant; her parents (James Edward Jewell and Maude Jewell); two brothers (James Jewell and Alfred Jewell); three sisters (Bernice Billingsley, Nell Griffin, Francis Harris); three nephews (Lloyd Jewell, Charles Billingsley, Don Gilbert); and three nieces (Florene Jewell, Linda Jewell, and Pam Jewell).  She was blessed with nieces and nephews who brought her great joy.

Mrs. Brooks' body will lie in state, beginning at 10:00 am, on Saturday, March 11, 2023, in the chapel of Greene Funeral Service, prior to the service.

Her Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Greene Funeral Service – South Chapel.    Interment will be private.

A service to celebrate the life of Ann will be held in Venice, Florida on April 1, 2023.

The family has requested that those who choose to honor Ann would consider making a memorial donation to her church in Venice, FL.   A benevolence fund has been established to help those in need.  We can think of no better tribute to her memory than to continue her good work.
