Alma "Bea" Dean Humphries

Alma "Bea" Dean Humphries, 89, of Gastonia, passed away Friday, June 20, 2014 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center. A native of Cherokee County, SC, she was born February 17, 1925, daughter of the late M.E. and Leila Bratton Wright. Bea was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Gastonia and attended Calvary Baptist Church. She was employed in cotton textiles for over 45 years and worked for Burger King. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Humphries was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Dean; second husband, Lawrence Humphries; and sons, Harold Eugene Dean and Steven Dean. She is survived by her sons, Jerry Donald Dean and wife Nora, Dennis Franklin Dean; daughter, Patsy Ann Dean; sisters, Lucille Sheaff, Edith Stewart, Frances Bradley, and Catherine Kiser; grandchildren, Kelly Samantha Dean and Steven Eugene Dean; great-grandson, Dylan Davis. A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Josh Glannon, will be held 2 pm Tuesday, June 24 at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 South York Rd, Gastonia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 3001 York Hwy., Gastonia, NC 28052 Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
