Allen E. Riddle

June 26, 1946 — November 10, 2015

SFC (Retired) Allen E. Riddle of Mt. Gilead, NC, went home to be with Jesus on November 10, 2015. He was born, in Gastonia, the son of the late Samuel E. Riddle and Claudia Whitley Riddle. He joined the army in 1966 and did his first tour in Vietnam. He returned to Gastonia and met his future wife, Annette L. Sarvis. They were married on December 29, 1968 and they traveled the world with his military career. They've been to Panama Canal, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and England during his time in the military. He retired July 1, 1991 at Ft. Stewart, GA after 20 plus years of service. They have three children together, James R. Wilson and wife Judy, Franklin A. Riddle and girlfriend, Ginger, Kimberly E. D. Stotler and husband Rick. They have nine grandchildren, James A. Wilson, Nichole M. Broome, Ashlyn E. Wilson, Lacey Johnson, Trey and Noah Stotler, Heather, Dusty and Amanda Riddle; brother, Keith Riddle; three sisters, Cheryl Hudson, Deborah Marcengill and Beverly Russo; and step-grandson Kevin Dodd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Annette L. Riddle, who passed away in 2011; sister, Helen Gantt; brother-in-laws Terry and Mickey Sarvis and Larry Marcengill and parent-in-laws Jack and Mary Sarvis. A funeral service will be held 3 pm Sunday at Greene Funeral Service - South Chapel - 1503 S. York Road, Gastonia. The family will receive friends 5 - 7 pm Saturday at the funeral home. Interment with full military honors will be in Sandy Plains Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made in honor of Allen E. Riddle to the Gary Sinise Foundation at www.garysinisefoundation.org. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
