Aline Shuford

Aline Shuford, 95, of Gastonia, passed away December 20, 2017 at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas.

She was born May 24, 1922 in Daytona Beach, Florida, the daughter of the late Bassett Yelvington and Maggie Zell Acree Yelvington.

Aline was a charter member of Covenant Baptist Church and loved to sing in the choir. She loved to play golf, and read books. She was retired from Southern Bell (AT&T) after 35 years.

She is survived by her daughters, Trudy Shuford, Brenda Hill and husband Jerry; brother, Robert Yelvington and wife Jane; grandchildren, Jay Hill, Jon Verner; great-grandchildren, Alanna Verner, Patrick Hill; numerous nieces and nephews; cousins, Bleeka Goforth, Treva Mullinax, Linda Appling; special neighbor, Mary Ann Fowler; and best friend, Chloe Sparks.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband JB Shuford; sisters, Theda Folsom, Pauline Amason, Norma Jordan, Merle Love; and grandchild, Sonya Verner.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Covenant Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Dan Freeman.

Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment will be private.
