Alice "Jo" Williams Neesmith

Alice "Jo" Williams NeeSmith, 86, of Kings Mountain, passed away Friday, February 12, 2021, at her son's home.

She was born July 5, 1934, in Cleveland County, daughter of the late Cecil Williams and Queenie Gladden Williams.

Jo was a 1954 graduate of Gardner Webb College. She spent her life as a selfless and dedicated volunteer servant at Temple Baptist Church. She gave of herself daily in all the needs of the church. She always impacted others, touching everyone who came to the church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Eugene NeeSmith; sister, Betty Phillips.

Left to cherish her memories are her sons, Alan NeeSmith (Robin), David NeeSmith, Daniel NeeSmith (Hope); daughters, Donna NeeSmith, Rachel Absher (Rodney); sisters, Annie Dixon (Jim), Cecile Reynolds (Richard); grandchildren, Travis, Wesson, Destiny, Caroline, Anna, Jennifer, Ashley, Makenzie, and Paisley; and 8 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 20, at Temple Baptist Church.

Ms. NeeSmith will Lie-in-State 1:00 – 6:00pm on Friday at the church.

The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 pm, on Friday, and 1:00 – 2:00 pm, on Saturday before the service, at the church.

Interment will be held at Hollywood Cemetery, Gastonia.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jo NeeSmith Scholarship Fund c/o Temple Baptist Church, 701 Littlejohn St. Gastonia, NC 28052.
