Alice Moss

December 3, 1926 — December 15, 2017

Alice Faye Wells Moss, 91, of Gastonia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior December 15, 2017.

She was born December 3, 1926 in Gaston County, daughter of the late Deuard and Bessie Wells.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Alfred Woodrow Moss; sister, Vangie Altizer; and brothers, Bethel and Bob Wells; and son-in-law, Rev. Leonard F. Johnson.

Alice was the last surviving charter member of Ridge Baptist Church where she was the organist for over 69 years. She was also a former Sunday School teacher and WMU Director there.

She sang and played for the Gaston County Golden Chorus and was retired from Homelite after 26 years of service.

Left to cherish her memories are her children, Cynthia Moss Johnson, Kathy Moss Smith, Debra Moss Dills and husband Jerry; grandchildren, Crystal Smith, Julie Brown (Terrence), Patrick Johnson (Bobbi), Afton Phillips (Brandon), Seth Johnson (Angela), and Abbey Dills; great-grandchildren, Emily and Megan Whichard, Pressley, Paelyn, and Paxton Phillips, Aubrey and Carter Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Chester Waters and Rev. Mike Ivey will be held 2 pm Monday, December 18, 2017 at Ridge Baptist Church, 3818 Old York Rd, Gastonia.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Gastonia.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ridge Baptist Church, 3818 Old York Rd, Gastonia, NC 28056.

Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
