Alfred Vaughn Abromaitis

Alfred (Fred) Albert Abromaitis, 89, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Caromont Regional Medical Center in the presence of his family.  Fred was born on March 26, 1927 in Lithuania.  He emigrated and became a naturalized American citizen in Marion, NC and was sponsored by St. Matthews Lutheran Church in 1951.  He retired after 40 total years of service with Belk Department Stores in Marion NC (25 years) and Myrtle Beach, SC (15 Years).  Fred was a true man of faith and it was present in all areas of his life.  He was a loving husband, and a caring father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  He was an avid sports fan and animal lover.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Asta Kask Abromaitis, after 55 years of marriage.

He is survived by two sons:  Fred Albert Abromaitis (Cindy) of Gastonia, NC; David August Abromaitis (Diana) of Columbia, SC; grandchildren Sara Lauren Abromaitis of Belmont, NC, Eric Vaughn Abromaitis (Becky) of Gastonia, NC, Bradley August Abromaitis of New Haven, CT, Rachel Marie Abromaitis of Raleigh, NC; great-granddaughter Skylar Ava Abromaitis of Gastonia, NC

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Risen Christ Lutheran Church at 3 pm, where he was a charter member.  Following the service, a celebration of Fred's life will be held in the fellowship hall.
