Alfred "Big Al" Foster

Alfred "Big Al" Foster, 73, of Bessemer City, passed away January 16, 2023, at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia.

He was born September 30, 1949, in Cleveland County, son of the late Jerry Foster Sr. and Verleen Slayton Foster.

He owned Al's Garage in Bessemer City for 45 years.

Al was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was quite the prankster.

A gathering of family and friends will be held 7-9 pm Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Road Gastonia.

Al is survived by his former wife and best friend, Dot Foster; his sons, Charlie Crawford, Alfred Foster II "Lil Al", Shilo Canipe, JunBug Crawford Jr., Roger Hegler; daughters, Alicia Foster, Paula "Sissy" Crawford; brother, Jeff Foster; grandchildren, Jessica, Brittany, Chris, T.J., Alex, Zoi; several great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Alfred was preceded in death by his grandma, Ila Slayton; and several brothers and sisters.

Arrangements are with the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, Gastonia.
