Albert "Bert" Smith

Albert "Bert" Smith, 63, of Gastonia, NC, passed away peacefully, Friday, January 8, 2021 at his residence.

He was born May 14, 1957 in Rochester Co, NY, son of the late Albert Ellison Smith Sr. and Patricia A. Heveron Smith. He was one of eight children.

Bert enjoyed playing golf, softball and bowling. He was a great husband, dad, grandfather, son and brother and also a US Navy Veteran.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Wendie Johnson Smith; daughters, Ashley Merrill (Daniel) and Dana Smith (Brian Brooks); grandchildren, LeiLanni DeLano, Mason Merrill, Bobby Riley Perkins, and Colton Brooks.

A memorial service with speakers John Somjak and Scott Frasure, will be held 4pm on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service – 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to, Alzheimer's Association – Western Carolina Chapter, 4600 Park Road, Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28215.
